Wiring interconnect solutions refer to all components used within an aircraft between equipment operating the generation, distribution and use of electrical energy. In the late 90’s, two aircraft accidents raised the attention on this wiring interconnect. The necessity of an aircraft qualification for the wiring interconnects - named EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect System) - has been required in order to select reliable and durable wiring solutions.

As part of this effort, SOURIAU - SUNBANK Connection Technologies has been working in partnership with different airframers, focusing on products qualification to ensure a reliable use of components over their expected lifetime. These qualifications are done either according to airframers’ specifications or according to standards such as EN standards or MIL standards.

We were the first manufacturer to introduce qualified lightning strike resistant composite connectors as well as qualified black zinc nickel plated aluminum connectors.
